Spotify Releases New Royalty Policies for Streaming

Spotify released its updated streaming payment policies for artists and labels on Tuesday morning, as anticipated. These policies are essentially the same as those that have been reported in the past few weeks: measures to reduce the number of fraudulent streams; an increase in the minimum payable track length for “noise” content (i.e., the frequently mentioned recordings of “rain falling on a rooftop”); and the removal of payment for songs with fewer than 1,000 streams.
